Free remix parts giveaway: Pete Dafeet - Carton Dance

Update: the parts are no longer online but I'm still happy to share them. Drop me an email if you'd like them and I'll send them over.

Following on from the "Drunk" parts give-away towards the end of last year, here are some more remix parts that you can download for free and have a play with...

The track
"Carton Dance" was originally released on French label S-Sens back in 2007, and was recently re-released on Southside Shuffle. If you aren't familiar with the track, you can listen to a sample at Juno, or stream the entire track for free on Spotify.

Download the Parts
You can download the parts here. It's a ZIP file with the WAV parts from the track.

Have a go; send it back
As per the last one, have a go at a remix, and send a link to your finished effort to me at pete@lostmydog.net. We'll judge them all, and release the best few on a Southside Shuffle remix EP (if you're up for it). If your mix doesn't make the cut then I'm fine with you giving it away for free, however you wish.

The legal bit
These remix parts are released under Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 2.0 UK: England & Wales License.

That means you're free to use these parts how you wish, so long as it isn't for commercial use (i.e. you're not making money out of it). Easy-peasy!

Video for "Whl"

I have a new EP out on Southside Shuffle this week, the 2425 EP.

It's a collection of 4 tracks I made in 2008, some of the last tracks I finished before switching from Reason to Logic.

Here's the lead track, Whl. It's kind of deep, kind of driving, kind of chunky (if that makes sense... which it probably doesn't!)

The background is Clapham Common if you're interested. Oh, and if you're on Spotify you can listen for free!

Free remix parts giveaway: Pete Dafeet - Drunk

I was clearing out my hard drive recently and found a load of remix parts sat there getting dusty. What better way to give them a purpose in life I pondered than to give them away for free in the coming months, to try to crowdsource some fresh remixes?

The track
First up are the parts to a track called "Drunk", originally released on French label S-Sens back in 2007, and re-released on Southside Shuffle just last month. If you aren't familiar with the track, you can listen to a sample at Juno, or stream the entire track for free on Spotify.

Download the Parts
You can download the parts here. It's a ZIP file with the WAV parts from the track.

Have a go; send it back
Have a go at a remix, and send a link to your finished effort to me at pete@lostmydog.net. I'll judge them all, and release the best few on a Southside Shuffle remix EP (if you're up for it). If your mix doesn't make the cut then I'm fine with you giving it away for free, however you wish.

The legal bit

That means you're free to use these parts how you wish, so long as it isn't for commercial use (i.e. you're not making money out of it). Simples.

Good luck and God speed, I look forward to hearing the results!

Jae V - Guilt EP (Southside Shuffle), out on Beatport now

Jae V's Guilt EP has just gone up on Beatport. His last EP on Southside Shuffle won praise from Laurent Garnier, Nick Holder, and Inland Knights; if you like those guys then you might like this!

Samples are below, you can find more info here. It's out elsewhere at the start of December.

Pete Dafeet - Squid Hunting video (aka driving through London on a Saturday)

Here's the video for Squid Hunting, from my Carton Dance EP that's just out on Southside Shuffle. It's filmed en-route to watch Middlesbrough at Reading a few weeks back!

You can find more info here, and if you like it you can buy at the usual suspects (BeatportStompyTraxsourceJuno Download), as well as on iTunes. And if you don't want to buy it, you can always stream it for free on Spotify!

(I thoroughly recommend listening to Johan Elg's remix of Drunk by the way - it's a beauty, and was selected as one of Beatport's must hear tracks for October.)

Pete Dafeet - Live Bunny, now on Beatport and Vimeo

My crap named Carton Dance EP was first released on the French label S-Sens while it was in the throes of a very silent death—on the owner's part at least—back in 2007. It trickled onto a few download sites, but never made vinyl and barely registered on the deep house radar.

With that in mind, what better way to get the music out than to take back the rights and release it on my own digital label, with a fresh new remix by Johan ELG?

The EP has just gone up on Beatport, and I've uploaded one of the tracks—Live Bunny—to Vimeo. The EP will be available elsewhere from November 5th. Enjoy!

Tom Dragebo brings his techno to Southside Shuffle (and Laurent Garnier's a fan)

If you're a techno fan you could do worse then check out Tom Dragebo's new release on my Southside Shuffle label.

Tom's originally from Oslo, but has recently emigrated to Barcelona along with friend and fellow Norwegian—not to mention Southside Shuffle artist—Alex Jangle.

The lead track—YoYo—has received great support from one of Tom's biggest influences, Laurent Garnier. I hope he's as chuffed as I would be! Orde Meikle of Slam, Abyss, and Demarkus Lewis have also been playing the tracks, as have I just now, sat in a darkened room for effect. It's pretty spooky music truth be told.

You can buy at Beatport, Stompy, and Juno Download, and stream for free at Spotify.
